Hurricane Katrina - alternative Spring Break adventure

Sixty people affiliated with Coe College – including 41 students – spent Spring Break working in Gulfport and Biloxi, Miss., March 5-10 to bring hope and healing to a region still reeling from the worst natural disaster in U.S. history.

Thirteen faculty and staff members, a spouse, a Coe parent and four high school students were also on the service mission to the Gulf Coast.

The group stayed at a work camp organized by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance at Orange Grove Presbyterian Church in Gulfport. From there, teams were dispatched to assist with clean-up, recovery and rebuilding efforts.

This Web site was created to document the experience and to inform visitors about the region’s ongoing need for help. Comments and feedback are welcome at abata@coe.edu .
